2014  End-of-Year Newsletter  (Jan 2015)

2014, an interesting year on many fronts....!

Dear Partners

We send this report with our hearts full of gratitude and praise to God for a challenging but exciting 2014.  God remained faithful to His work!  For the last 6.5 years that we've been on the mission field, we have continuously experienced divine provision, protection and guidance.  We are truly grateful for His mercy and loving kindness.  One aspect of the blessing of God to us is the astounding co-labourers that work with us in House of Wells.  They are dedicated and anointed people who are passionate about children.  We are also blessed with a divine cohesion among our team members that makes House of Wells staff members a solidly united family.  This is replicated in all the cities where we are based in Southern Africa - Port Elizabeth (SA), Cape Town (SA), Kwekwe (Zimbabwe).  To God alone we give all the glory.

We have had an increase in the number of children that come to House of Wells at the last count we now have well over a thousand children for whom we are responsible.  A new centre in the Kwazakhele township of Port Elizabeth has also started.  We are also actively looking into Botswana as the next country to plant a mission station for House of Wells.

There is a continuous stretching of our faith as every expansions ultimately requires more funds to execute the projects. The amazing thing though is that God always come through every time we sum up enough courage & dare to obey His leading to step forward in faith.  So, He is constantly helping us to develop our faith muscle.  We discovered that children always flourish in environments that have fun and entertainment so we decided to introduce in all our Centres a day per week when we do games, dance, Art & Crafts and sports. This has made the Centres very exciting for the kids as they look forward to all the fun activities.

We are continuously seeing the children grow spiritually.  In our Centres in Kleinskool and New Brighton the children who attend H.O.W programmes do take the morning assembly meetings of their schools.  Numerous parents are commending our programmes for the difference they can see in their children, several school principals are grateful that their students attend House of Wells, and that we are based in their community.  Very healthy relationships continue to evolve between HOW and community leaders because of the work H.O.W does. We are thankful to God for the H.O.W Teenagers that passed their Matric (end of High Sch) exams!!  Also, some of the children that we've been able to help with extra tuition in key subjects all achieved good grades!! We're also noticing improvements in the younger kids' reading abilities and received testimonials from some teachers regarding this.

Our TEENAGE CLASSES is also growing in leaps and bounds.  We now have about 150 teenagers who attend our Saturday classes in 4 townships, where they benefit from crucial life orientation topics which set them on the right path to a wholesome, healthy and promising future.  We are trusting God to organise a weekend retreat for them in 2015 as soon as funds permit.

March 2014 - Pastor Anthony Ashaye, Senior Pastor of The Kings Family Centre in Essex came to House of Wells bearing gifts for the children. The church members sent several bags of brand new clothes and stationery for about 600 Children.  TKFC is one of the churches that Partner with us and consider us as one of their own.

In almost all of our centres, as he was led by the Holy Spirit, Pst Ashaye laid hands on all the children in attendance praying fervently for them, some children had very powerful encounters resulting in deliverances.  We are grateful for the love shown by the entire membership of TKFC to the children at House of Wells.

November 2014 - We had the privilege of welcoming 5 members of Trinity Chapel, London who came to serve at H.O.W for 2 weeks.  They put their hands to the plough in all our Centres, ministered to the children with the laying on of hands and speaking words of encouragement and hope over them.
They were touched by the joy of the children at all Centres despite their circumstances, esp in our New Brighton Centre, where the children spoke about what they were thankful for.  Our guests told us "we were deeply humbled by the children's responses. If ever we needed a cure from our self-centeredness, these experiences changed us forever".  They also visited the homes of 10 children, and one of them said "We could not fail to be moved with compassion at their living conditions.  However, the children remained the shining light of their families, even amidst the darkness of their environment. Although we were pressed down by their conditions, we were not discouraged as we saw the hope of Christ reflecting in their eyes".  The TC team were very much involved with the packing of 700 Christmas party bags for the Under 13s, 120 gift boxes for the Teenagers, the preparation of 700 meal packs and serving the children at the parties.

The event took place in June 2014, to showcase & raise awareness of what House of Wells does and has done in South Africa for 6 years.  The intention was also to get local South African organisations & companies, people from varying backgrounds in both public and private sector to come on board and partner with House of Wells, as we enrich the lives of the H.O.W children.  The event was a success as many people completed and signed the commitment cards stating the various ways they will help.

2014 Christmas Parties in Cape Town (SA), Port Elizabeth (SA) and Zimbabwe
The 2014 Christmas parties were held between 29th Nov and 6th December, for the children attending House of Wells Centres across South Africa & Zimbabwe. The bulk of the funds needed was raised through an appeal on Facebook and quite a number of companies donated money, products and venues, while some gave us products at discounted rates.

In Cape Town - about 70 children enjoyed a rainbow-themed party complete with festive food, drinks & lots of entertainment.  The day was a fantastic success, as well as the sumptuous meals, each child went home with a huge goodie bag worth over R100.

House of Wells Zimbabwe welcomed over 100 children to their Christmas party.  It was such a beautiful day and the kids enjoyed themselves & also received Christmas hampers to take home.

In Port Elizabeth (PE), our Teenagers were celebrated in true VIP style. There were speeches, a talent show and also presentations with a panel of judges deciding the winners. The gifts on display were breathtaking. At the Under 13s party, each centre presented songs and dances. There were clowns, speeches and other entertainment. The joy of the day was infectious as we all smiled and celebrated God’s work in the life of each child.  It was quite emotional, at both parties, when the Christmas presents were being handed out, what a privilege being an extension of God's Hands to reach them with the love of Christ!  God’s love was demonstrated in action, to those who may have been forgotten by society.  We had an unprecedented number of volunteers in PE, who helped us to pack 700 party bags for the under 13s, 120 gift boxes for the Teenagers, prepare 700 meal packs and served the children at the party.  It was the biggest and the best since our first party in 2008.  We truly GIVE GOD ALL THE GLORY!!!  Links to Teens' video & photos - http://goo.gl/h0Lvvs ; http://goo.gl/HehYlH.  Links to under 13s video & photos - http://goo.gl/V0klRJ ; http://goo.gl/SbCdwa.

A big THANKS to everyone who sponsored party bags towards the 2014 Christmas parties, those who donated money & those who gave their time to pack 820 gift bags and prepare meals.  Many THANKS to Boardwalk & Summerstrand Hotel for the venues, Marina Sea Salt (for Bibles & salts), Kingfisher FM, Blue Ribbon Bakery, Trinity Chapel for the various gift items they brought for the party packs & other sponsors for making the day so SPECIAL!!  Thank you all so much for extending your soul to the hungry, for sharing your bread with them and for supporting us to plead their cause.  The smiles on the children's faces said it all.  We pray Isa 58: 8-9 over you all!
On this note, we want to thank all H.O.W partners, through you God has enabled us to further His will and purpose for the children in our care.  It is our prayer that HE who never forgets our labour of love will continually reward you tremendously in Jesus’ mighty name AMEN!  Our eternal gratitude goes to every individual, organisation, business or church that has ever been of help to House of Wells in the course of this journey of Faith.  Not only financially, but your contribution through contacts, time, skills, prayer etc.  We pray that God will richly bless you and pleasantly surprise you in multiple ways. May the Lord continue to multiply the seed you are sowing and increase the fruits of your righteousness.
